Steven Bomba left the University of Wisconsin in Madison with a Ph.D. in Physics in 1968. He spent the next 30 years learning to be an engineer, an engineering manager and, finally, a technology leader. He worked for Mobil Research and Development Corporation, Texas Instruments, Collins Radio, Allen-Bradley, and Rockwell International. He retired from Johnson Controls where he was VP, Technology (Chief Technology Officer) for 10 years. He has done research, technology development, product development, manufacturing, product support, and business development. He has served on a wide variety of advisory panels, including UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UI-Champaign, Michigan Tech., and Milwaukee School of Engineering. Steven served on many national and state government committees and non-profit work groups and boards, including National Research Council, National Science Foundation, Fraunhofer of America, Great Lakes Composite Consortium, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Wisconsin Governor's Science and Technology Council and Wisconsin Board of Development. He has lectured many times on the general topic of technology: its genesis, deployment, utilization, and management. |
